BLUE RHAPSODY FOR ALTO SAXOPHONE – (BAND, GRADE 4, SAX SECTION, GRADE 5, SOLO SAX, GRADE 6) – An unusual concerto for Alto Saxophone solo in Jazz style, with addition of remaining sax section as “co-soloists” as the composition concludes.
CONCERTINO FOR ALTO SAXOPHONE AND BAND – (BAND, GRADE 4; SOLO, GRADE 6, but includes optional alternate, easier, segments) – Through-composed major work, performed throughout the world by leading saxophone virtuosi.
CORTEGE – (GRADE 4) – If desired, piece can be performed with separate DRUM & BUGLE CORPS for extremely dramatic effect – particularly if staged for “stereo”.
CONCERTO FOR TRUMPET – (BAND, GRADE 4; SOLO, GRADE 5) – classical three-movement concerto originally commissioned by the Univ. of Illinois.
CONCERTO BAROCCO – (BAND, GRADE 4; SOLO, GRADE 6) – dramatic trumpet concerto in contemporary variation of the Baroque style, originally commissioned and premiered by Doc Severinsen.
THE DRUMS OF AFRICA – (GRADE 4) – Can be performed by “normal” band percussion section, or can be presented as a “Concerto Grosso” for seven percussion soloists, all performing on African Instruments (or conventional equivalents).
FANTASIA FOR FLUTES – (GRADE 4) – Designed to be performed by entire flute section of the band, but can also be presented with just two solo flutes and Band if desired.
INTRODUCTION AND DANCE (BAND, GRADE 4, SOLO, GRADE 5) – rare opportunity to feature a TUBA SOLOIST with Band accompaniment. Delightful show-piece garners an excellent response when performed.
THE LINE – (GRADE 4) – this expanded musical portrait, commissioned for the 200th Anniversary of the U.S. Military Academy, can be dramatically enhanced by the addition of a full FIFE, DRUM & BUGLE CORPS if desired.
PIECE FOR FOUR HORNS – (GRADE 4) – Single-movement work featuring a horn-quartet (or larger multiple if desired) in a light, but highly-effective style, commissioned and premiered by the U.S. Air Force Band.
PRIMARIES – (GRADE 4 – 5) – full-length concerto for 17-piece JAZZ BAND with concert band accompaniment (movements are “Yellow”, “Blue”, and “Red”), or can also be performed by SOLO TRUMPET with RHYTHM SECTION.
PIECE FOR TRUMPETS AND CORONETS – Designed for the entire Cornet and Trumpet section of the Band, this can also be performed by five soloists if desired. Always garners great audience reaction.
