AMERICAN CIVIL WAR FANTASY – (Peer Southern Music) (GRADE 4-5) – Rhapsodic treatment of traditional American folk-songs, tracing the history of events leading up to, and through the American Civil War, culminating with a dramatic setting of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic”. 2011-2012 marks the 150th Anniversary of that historic event.
CONCERTO BAROCCO – FOR SOLO TRUMPET – (ORCHESTRA: GRADE 4, SOLO TRUMPET, GRADE 6) – Dramatic trumpet concerto in contemporary variation of the Baroque style, originally commissioned and premiered by Doc Severinsen with the Boston Pops, John Williams, conducting.
INDEPENDENCE – (GRADE 4-5) – FOR NARRATOR, FULL MIXED CHORUS, AND ORCHESTRA (WITH OPTIONAL MATCHING BAND-ACCOMPANIMENT) – Narrator describes the events leading to the creation of the United States, quoting exclusively from the actual written records of the British Parliament, while the CHORUS portrays the increasing fervor of the Colonists leading to the events at Lexington, using only the text of our own Declaration of Independence. A perfect selection for patriotic holidays, such as the Fourth of July!
